Flow Lounge/Café/Garden, located about two minutes walk from either Fushimi or Sakae-is a three floor building with three distinct vibes, and they all blend to make this spot one of Nagoya’s chillest locations. Even though those Beastie Boy lyrics in the title fully describe Flow Lounge, trust me, there’s nothing beastie about it man. If you’ve been trying to get the girl-or the guy, orr – if you’re just trying to get your chill on, FLOW LOUNGE is the place. Get thee there.
The first floor is a sophisticated spacious modern lounge area with leather couches, glittering chandeliers, and soft candle light. This floor’s design has a Mediterranean feel, according to my friend. Dark chocolate browns, ivory, tan, olive green and black-it’s large, long, and surprisingly wide. This is the floor you begin your Flow experience on. It’s a great space for a party, event, or if you’re trying to impress your favorite person with style and panache. You’ll win class points for taking them to Flow.
The second floor, Café Flow, is more low-key than Flow Lounge-it has wooden floors, and a very natural wood-flavored décor. The wood is the thing, relax. More soft couches, throw in some plush armchairs, soft natural lighting, a DJ, and you’ve got an atmosphere where it’s very easy to fall in some serious ‘like’ with someone-feels sorta like being at home. Add pasta, red wine, chocolate cake and large windows, this place is for the serious café lover. Sometimes places have a sort of atmosphere or feeling that transports you outside the city you are in, and makes you feel like “you’re somewhere else”, Café Flow definitely qualifies. I spent 4 hours there the other night, and the time slowly crept by like it was nothing. Time flies when you’re having fun..
The third floor, Flow Garden, is a rooftop open-air deck reminiscent of something you might find along the seashore in Greece or Spain -or Miami. It’s a large open space with wooden benches, umbrellas, plants and open sky. During winter months, it might be a bit nipply up there, but in summer/spring/fall, the deck is the place to be. Again, great place to host a party or event, great vibe, what’s better than enjoying music, drinks, food, and conversation cool fun smart people- underneath the stars? Flow Garden is your rooftop getaway.
All in all, FLOW Lounge is a very cool spot, located in a very cool area, -close to Shirakawa Koen-walking distance from almost anywhere between Nagoya Station, Fushimi, or Sakae. The staff is friendly, the food is yummy, the prices are moderate, and the place itself is a gem. If you’ve been looking for a chill, stylish, relaxed and warm spot to take a date- this place is that. But don’t tell everyone..okay? Our secret.
