Tokyo, August 17–18, 2024Sneaker Con, the globally recognized sneaker and streetwear convention, made its highly anticipated Japan debut with a two-day event at Tokyo Big Sight East Hall 2, attracting over 10,000 attendees and more than 200 exhibitors. As part of its 15th anniversary tour, the Tokyo edition offered a deep dive into sneaker culture, resale energy, and creative expression.

The heart of the event was the Trading Pit, where collectors and casual enthusiasts came together to buy, sell, and trade coveted sneakers. Everything from vintage grails and regional exclusives to the latest collabs — including Off-White, Travis Scott, Sacai, and Fragment — passed through eager hands.

A major partner at the event, eBay Japan, showcased its sneaker authentication system and hosted live workshops and art-based activations. Visitors could have their sneakers authenticated on-site and explore limited-edition artwork created by local Japanese artists including Makoto Ikeda and Hikaru Matsubara.

The event wasn’t just about shoes. Fashion vendors, streetwear brands, and customization booths filled the hall. Street-style photographers, influencers, and creators mingled with the crowd, adding to the hype-driven yet inclusive vibe.

Notably, South Korean DJ and fashion icon DJ SODA was present promoting a limited-edition collaboration T-shirt, further cementing the event’s blend of music, fashion, and sneaker culture.

With heavy social media buzz, long lines at popular booths, and non-stop trades and flexes throughout the weekend, Sneaker Con Tokyo 2024 solidified the city’s growing presence on the global sneaker scene. Whether attendees were flipping heat, copping grails, or just soaking in the culture, the event delivered an immersive look at one of youth fashion’s most passionate communities.
