On June 24, 2025, Hotel Gracery Shinjuku hosted a media preview of its newly launched concept room, inspired by the 1991 film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. This commemorative addition marks the hotel’s 10th anniversary since opening in 2015 and continues its long-standing partnership with the Godzilla franchise.

The new room—renovated from one of the guestrooms on the 30th floor, known as the “Godzilla Floor”—transforms the space into a miniature tokusatsu (special effects) film studio. At the heart of the room are two original 1/50 scale models of Godzilla and King Ghidorah, positioned in a cinematic standoff. King Ghidorah is mounted directly above the bed on the ceiling, allowing guests to lie beneath the three-headed kaiju. Godzilla’s model features illuminated dorsal fins and mouth, echoing the dramatic battle scenes from the Heisei-era film.

Designed under Toho’s official supervision, the room is equipped with lighting and sound controls, including Godzilla’s iconic roar used in the actual movie. Film set-style props such as director’s chairs, clapperboards, and building-like stools are also included, encouraging guests to recreate their own behind-the-scenes experience. Even the bathroom and toilet walls are decorated with themed visuals, immersing guests in the film’s universe.

The film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, directed by Kazuki Ōmori and released in 1991, was the 18th entry in the Godzilla series. Its plot featured time travelers from the 23rd century attempting to prevent Godzilla’s destruction of future Japan, only to unleash a more powerful threat in the form of King Ghidorah. Set largely in Tokyo, including Shinjuku, the story’s climactic battle serves as the conceptual backdrop for this room.

The “Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah Room” is officially open for bookings starting July 1, with nightly rates beginning at ¥122,400 (tax and service charge included) for two guests. Reservations are available on the hotel’s official website.

The 30th floor of the hotel is entirely themed around Godzilla, featuring corridor displays, unique room amenities, and custom elevator designs. Another six “Godzilla View Rooms” on the 9th and 10th floors offer close-up views of the iconic Godzilla Head, a landmark of the Shinjuku Toho Building where the hotel resides.

At the 8th-floor lobby lounge, Godzilla-themed desserts and drinks are available year-round. Beginning July 1, new King Ghidorah-themed menu items, including a Japanese-style parfait and printed art latte, will be offered.

Advance reservations for stays between July and September began in April, with over half the rooms already booked at the time of reporting. Interest remains strong from both domestic and inbound travelers.
