On May 17th, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight’s East Hall 3 (Green Stage), the Tokyo E‑Prix Formula E event featured a dazzling fusion of technology, performance, and fashion as part of the city’s “TOKYO GX ACTION CHANGING – Future‑Changing Decarbonization Action” initiative. A crowd of 5,000 gathered to witness the MPLUSPLUS LED Dance Show in collaboration with the ANREALAGE 2025 PARIS–TOKYO Collection—an unprecedented showcase of kinetic creativity and environmental vision.
Creative collective MPLUSPLUS, known for integrating choreography and LED technology, brought the stage to life with a fleet of 25 dancers outfitted in high-performance LED costumes. These wearable light sculptures responded in real time to choreography, creating a breathtaking symphony of movement and illumination. LED flags and newly developed lighting effects were also unveiled, drawing astonishment from the audience with the show’s precision and scale.
ANREALAGE, the Japanese fashion label celebrated globally for its boundary-pushing use of technology in design, presented garments embedded with LED textiles. The pieces—initially introduced at Paris Fashion Week—acted as living screens, with graphics and dynamic displays running across the surface of the clothes. The result was a mesmerizing visual experience where clothing functioned as moving digital media.
This groundbreaking event was held as part of Tokyo’s GX (Green Transformation) strategy to promote sustainability through innovation. By blending art, technology, and environmental messaging, the performance aligned with the broader Formula E ethos of clean energy and mobility, turning the spotlight on how culture and climate action can intersect meaningfully.
Held on May 17 with doors opening at 16:30 and the show beginning at 17:15, the event was staged at Tokyo Big Sight’s East Hall 3 with a standing audience layout, capped at 5,000 attendees. It was organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and supported by leading creative and fashion technology firms, marking a significant collaboration between MPLUSPLUS and ANREALAGE following their successful joint presentation in Paris.
From wearable LED choreography to garments that double as kinetic screens, the MPLUSPLUS and ANREALAGE show offered a visionary glimpse into the future of fashion and performance. It was not only a highlight of the Tokyo E‑Prix’s cultural programming, but also a bold artistic statement about how sustainability and innovation can light the path ahead.
