Japanese actress Satomi Ishihara is looking forward to a new chapter in her career as she prepares to celebrate 25 years in entertainment in 2027. The actress shared her ambitions at a Tokyo press conference on October 15, where she was introduced as the 22nd image character for Lulu and its new cold medicine, Lulu A Premium.
The event marked the launch of a new television commercial titled Lulu-san Appears, which began airing nationwide on October 15. The campaign also celebrates the 75th anniversary of Lulu, the long-running Japanese cold medicine brand developed by Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare.
Ishihara, 39, reflected on the milestones of both her career and the brand, sharing a personal motto that captures her determination to keep growing as an actress.
Ishihara Reveals Career Motto
During a special presentation connecting Lulu’s 75-year history with Ishihara’s personal journey, the actress looked back on photographs from different stages of her life, from childhood to her early years in entertainment.
“Lulu is celebrating its 75th anniversary, and I will celebrate my 25th anniversary next year. Added together, that makes 100 years,” Ishihara said.
She noted that the combined milestones represent a period longer than a single person’s lifetime, expressing gratitude to the many people who have supported the brand and her career over the years.
Asked about her aspirations for her upcoming career anniversary, Ishihara wrote the Japanese expression “Ryūsui nigorazu” (流水濁らず), which translates to “Flowing water does not become stagnant.”
“Just as flowing water does not become stagnant, I want to have the courage to take on new challenges without being afraid of change,” she explained.
Ishihara said she has always enjoyed change and the process of challenging herself, adding that those experiences have brought her a sense of fulfillment throughout her career.
Having spent 25 years pursuing new opportunities, she hopes to continue moving forward without losing that willingness to evolve.
Her remarks reflected the campaign’s broader message of embracing change while maintaining a sense of warmth and connection.
Childhood Photos Trace Ishihara’s Journey
The event also featured a special historical presentation that placed Ishihara’s life and career alongside Lulu’s development over the past 75 years.
Previously unreleased photographs from her childhood and earlier years were displayed, offering a glimpse into the actress’s personal history.
The presentation highlighted the connection between the brand’s long-standing presence in Japanese households and Ishihara’s own journey in the entertainment industry.
The actress is preparing to mark her 25th year in entertainment in 2027, following a career spanning film, television and stage productions.
Her appointment as Lulu’s 22nd image character also introduces a new chapter for the brand as it promotes Lulu A Premium, which launched on August 31, 2026.
New Lulu A Premium Commercial
The new commercial, Lulu-san Appears, stars Ishihara as “Lulu-san,” who appears alongside two young actresses playing her daughters.
Set in an autumn forest filled with falling leaves, the commercial opens with Lulu-san slipping on a slope. Her two daughters, named Ruri and Rura in the commercial, immediately rush over to check on her.
The three then take out a bottle of Lulu A Premium and enthusiastically deliver the slogan, “Sugu Lulu, kiku Lulu, minna de Lulu!” — a playful phrase built around the Lulu name and the product’s intended role in family cold care.
The commercial concludes with the three characters holding hands as they happily walk up the slope together.
An original song featuring the familiar phrase “Lulu works for fever, throat and nose symptoms” accompanies the scenes, reinforcing the campaign’s emphasis on warmth, reassurance and family.
Ishihara wears an orange outer layer and a beret, reflecting Lulu’s brand colors while complementing the autumn setting.
The production recreates a forest environment inside a studio, complete with real fallen leaves. According to the campaign’s production notes, the atmosphere helped Ishihara immerse herself in the scene.
She also praised the two young performers, describing them as endearing and dependable during filming.
What Is Lulu A Premium?
Lulu A Premium is a comprehensive over-the-counter cold medicine launched by Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare on August 31, 2026, as part of the Lulu brand’s 75th-anniversary year.
The product is designed to help relieve 11 common cold symptoms, including fever, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, phlegm, chills, headache, sneezing, joint pain and muscle pain.
According to the manufacturer, the medicine can be taken by children aged seven and older, making family cold care a central part of its product positioning.
The launch builds on Lulu’s anniversary brand message, “Kaze ni wa ai o” (“Love for those with a cold”). The campaign focuses on the care and affection shown to someone who is unwell, positioning the brand around the emotional support that often accompanies recovery.
With Ishihara as its new image character, Lulu is using the latest commercial to communicate that message through a family-centered story rather than a product demonstration alone.
The new commercial began nationwide television broadcasts on October 15. The campaign’s key visual is also scheduled to appear in pharmacies, online and in out-of-home advertising.
