On March 10, 2025, Tokyo’s Istituto Italiano di Cultura served as the elegant setting for the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific 2025 Awards, an annual celebration of the region’s best pizzerias. The event brought together culinary leaders, journalists, and international dignitaries to recognize innovation and craftsmanship in pizza making across Asia and the Pacific.

Claiming the top spot for the third consecutive year was The Pizza Bar on 38th, located inside the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. Helmed by Executive Chef Daniele Cason, the intimate eight-seat pizzeria continued to impress with its dedication to quality and precision, solidifying its status as a regional benchmark. In second place, RistoPizza by Napoli sta’ ca’’ in Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills showcased the flavors of Naples under the guidance of Chef Giuseppe Errichiello. Fiata by Salvatore Fiata in Hong Kong completed the top three, reaffirming the city’s presence in the growing gourmet pizza scene.

Japan secured nine spots on the list, second only to Australia, which led the rankings with ten pizzerias. China followed with six entries. Tokyo distinguished itself with six of the top 50 establishments, while Melbourne and Hong Kong each had four, reflecting an expanding diversity in pizza excellence across urban centers in the region.

Among the special recognitions this year, ANTO in Singapore was highlighted as “One to Watch 2025,” while Susy Di Cosimo of India’s “da Susy” earned “Pizza Maker of the Year.” NeoPolitan in Haifa, Israel was named “New Entry of the Year,” marking Israel’s growing influence in the regional pizza community. These awards underscored the geographic and stylistic evolution of the craft beyond its European roots.

The ceremony also featured a moving tribute to the late chef Margarita Forés, whose contributions to Italian-Filipino culinary relations were remembered with great respect. Judges from the 50 Top Pizza Guide emphasized the increasing momentum of pizza culture in Asia, noting Singapore’s rapid rise, Hong Kong’s refined dining spaces, and Australia’s consistent delivery of quality and innovation.

The top 13 winners of the Asia-Pacific list automatically qualified for the 50 Top Pizza World Ranking, set to take place in Naples on September 8, 2025. The announcement adds further global visibility to chefs and restaurants already making waves within their local markets. Following the ceremony, an official after-party was held at the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, where guests toasted the evening with Italian wines and celebrated the community that continues to redefine pizza in the Asia-Pacific region.

This year’s awards offered a clear snapshot of how deeply pizza has integrated into the contemporary food culture of Asia-Pacific. With strong showings from Japan, Australia, and China, and emerging recognition from Singapore, Thailand, India, and Israel, the 2025 list reflects a diverse and increasingly sophisticated culinary landscape, driven by creativity, respect for tradition, and local adaptation.
