The Tokyo Metropolitan Government presented the Tokyo Citizens Sports Award (都民スポーツ大賞) on May 13, recognizing Tokyo-connected athletes who won medals at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics.
Held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1, the ceremony honored nine athletes linked to Tokyo through residence, work, or other affiliations. Yuriko Koike presented the awards.
Of the nine recipients, four medalists attended the ceremony in person: Ren Nikaido, Sara Takanashi, Mitsuki Ono, and Daichi Oguri.

- Ren Nikaido — Silver, Men’s Ski Jumping Large Hill; also Bronze in Men’s Normal Hill and Mixed Team
- Shun Sato — Silver, Figure Skating Team Event; also Bronze in Men’s Singles
- Sara Takanashi — Bronze, Ski Jumping Mixed Team
- Mitsuki Ono — Bronze, Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe
- Ayano Sato — Bronze, Women’s Team Pursuit
- Hana Noake — Bronze, Women’s Team Pursuit
Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics
- Momoka Muraoka — Silver, Women’s Sitting Giant Slalom and Women’s Sitting Super-G
- Daichi Oguri — Silver, Men’s Para Snowboard Banked Slalom LL1
- Takeshi Suzuki — Bronze, Men’s Sitting Slalom
The ceremony featured the formal presentation of certificates, remarks from Governor Koike, athlete comments, and a commemorative group photo. A post-ceremony media session was also held for attending athletes.
Established in 2008, the Tokyo Citizens Sports Award recognizes Tokyo athletes who achieve outstanding results in major international competitions and aims to share those achievements with residents across the capital.
