The “MyNavi Show Drama Awards 2026” was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, celebrating the creators, actors, and productions driving the explosive growth of vertical short-form drama content in Japan.

Organized by the Show Drama Awards Executive Committee with special sponsorship from Mynavi Corporation, the event highlighted how smartphone-first storytelling and social media-driven entertainment are reshaping the Japanese entertainment industry.

Widely recognized as one of Japan’s largest award platforms dedicated to vertical short dramas, the ceremony brought together emerging creators, performers, producers, and digital storytellers for an evening focused on the future of modern content creation.

Television personality and announcer Kasumi Mori served as master of ceremonies, guiding audiences through award presentations and special guest sessions throughout the night.

A major surprise came when legendary entertainer Sachiko Kobayashi appeared as a secret guest during the ceremony. Kobayashi spoke about the changing entertainment landscape and the importance of adapting to new digital formats that connect with younger audiences.

Actors Mei Hata and Koki Yamashita also took the stage, discussing the growing creative opportunities within short-form and vertical storytelling formats.

The ceremony emphasized how vertical dramas have evolved from social media experiments into a legitimate entertainment genre capable of launching new talent and generating large-scale audience engagement.

Several speakers throughout the event reflected on the increasing influence of AI-assisted production tools, mobile-first viewing habits, and creator-driven storytelling ecosystems. At the same time, they stressed that emotional authenticity and relatable narratives remain central to successful short-form content.

The Grand Prize was awarded to “Seikai ga Wakaranai,” while numerous creators and performers were recognized across categories including acting, directing, editing, planning, and audience engagement.
