On September 2, 2025, Japanese luxury fashion label HARUNOBUMURATA presented its 2026 Spring/Summer collection at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (Rakuten FWT), staging its runway show at Telecom Center in Tokyo as part of the second day of the six-day event that ran from September 1 to September 6, 2025. The presentation began at 19:00 and was included in the official schedule alongside other domestic designers showcasing upcoming seasonal work.
Founded in 2019 by designer Harunobu Murata following his return to Japan after professional experience in Milan, Italy, HARUNOBUMURATA is known for blending Japanese craftsmanship with Italian techniques to produce ready-to-wear womenswear. The brand’s mission includes establishing a luxury label that reflects refined materiality and design sensibility informed by both cultures.
For the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, titled “YOUR SILENT WATERFALL,” Murata focused on an interpretation of nature’s fluid forms and the changing qualities of water. The runway staging incorporated elements to evoke the theme, with a centralized smoke installation that suggested the motion and presence of a waterfall in the circular venue space. Models progressed around this feature, reinforcing the idea of movement and fluidity that underpinned the collection’s design narrative.
Garments emphasized lightness, translucence, and color gradations associated with water and mist. A notable piece at the opening was a dress constructed from approximately fifty layers of organza, creating a delicate gradation in tone and depth. Other looks included cami dresses with irregular fringe that suggested splashes of water and viscose sets that responded to motion with a wave-like effect as models walked. The color palette was anchored in soft hues — pale blues, pinks, greens, yellows, and whites — intended to reflect shifting light on water surfaces.
In an addition to the lighter, fluid pieces, the collection also incorporated denim — a first for the brand — showcased through a hand-smocked denim skirt created over more than twenty hours and subjected to a detailed wash process to yield a richly textured expression. This denim inclusion added a contrasting material presence to the otherwise ethereal lineup.
