YOKOHAMA, Japan — July 17, 2026 — Prince Ice World 2026–2027 THE REVUE ON ICE officially opened its Yokohama engagement on Friday at the KOSÉ Shin-Yokohama Skate Center, launching a brand-new season with a spectacular production featuring some of Japan’s biggest figure skating names alongside the acclaimed Prince Ice World Team.
The opening performance brought together an outstanding guest lineup including Olympic champion Shizuka Arakawa, Olympic silver medalist Yuma Kagiyama, Olympic ice dance duo Kana Muramoto and Daisuke Takahashi, Nobunari Oda, Wakaba Higuchi, Shun Sato, Ami Nakai, and Sota Yamamoto, delivering an entertaining blend of world-class skating, theatrical storytelling, synchronized choreography, and live performance.
Running from July 17 to July 20, the Yokohama production marks the debut of the new THE REVUE ON ICE series, combining timeless music with innovative choreography, elaborate costumes, synchronized ensemble skating, and breathtaking acrobatic performances.
A New Chapter for Prince Ice World
This year’s production introduces a completely refreshed concept while maintaining the signature large-scale entertainment that has made Prince Ice World one of Japan’s most beloved ice shows.
Speaking after the opening performance, Yuma Kagiyama revealed that this year’s production demands considerably more from the skaters than previous editions.
“The program is completely different this season,” Kagiyama said. “Even the opening requires more technically, and we first had to learn the choreography on land before bringing it onto the ice. They even had me performing a triple Axel right from the opening,” he joked.
Despite the increased difficulty, Kagiyama said he enjoys performing alongside the Prince Ice World cast.
“It’s incredibly fun working together with everyone to make Prince Ice World even more exciting. I want to enjoy the remaining performances while delivering my best skating.”
Kagiyama Plans Quadruple Jumps During Yokohama Run
Although Kagiyama has announced a break from competitive skating for the upcoming season, the Olympic silver medalist confirmed he has no intention of reducing the technical content of his exhibition performances.
“Even during this break from competition, I want to continue attempting quadruple jumps here in Yokohama,” he said. “I want to keep challenging myself and make sure I don’t fall behind the active competitors.”
Performing to Cinema Paradiso, a program he choreographed himself, Kagiyama combined emotional expression with the high-level technical difficulty expected from one of the world’s leading men’s skaters.
Ami Nakai Returns to Prince Ice World
Olympic bronze medalist Ami Nakai made her first Prince Ice World appearance in three years, performing her exhibition program Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing.
“I’m very happy to be back after three years,” Nakai said. “It’s a bright and cheerful program, and I hope everyone can see my personality through my performance.”
Her energetic routine received a warm response from the audience, particularly during its playful choreography.
Muramoto and Takahashi Bring Storytelling to the Ice
Olympic ice dance pair Kana Muramoto and Daisuke Takahashi captivated spectators with Sing Sing Sing, a theatrical performance portraying two strangers whose eyes briefly meet while walking through New York City.
Takahashi explained that the program expands a fleeting real-life moment into an imagined three-minute story.
“It’s about that brief instant when two people pass each other and make eye contact,” he said. “In reality it lasts only seconds, but we tell that story over three minutes.”
Muramoto added that the performance includes playful dramatic elements before returning to reality.
“There’s a little bit of acting involved,” she said with a smile.
Veteran Stars Praise the New Production
Olympic champion Shizuka Arakawa praised the scale and energy of the new production, saying the large ensemble remains one of Prince Ice World’s defining strengths.
“The speed and scale created by such a large cast is something unique to Prince Ice World,” Arakawa said. “It’s impressive every time I watch it.”
Former Olympian Nobunari Oda also praised the resident cast.
“I really felt how much individual personality and skating ability are required in this show,” Oda said. “Everyone performed brilliantly, and it was wonderful to watch.”
Music, Acrobatics and Large-Scale Entertainment
Beyond the guest stars, the Prince Ice World Team delivered an impressive showcase of synchronized skating, theatrical choreography and aerial acrobatics, supported by elaborate costumes and creative staging.
This season’s musical selections include well-known classics such as Lupin III Theme, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, and many other iconic pieces, making the production accessible to both dedicated figure skating fans and newcomers alike.
Following each performance, premium ticket holders can participate in the popular Meet & Greet, where skaters interact with fans, accept flowers, pose for photographs, and celebrate the opening of another Prince Ice World season.
With Olympic medalists, current elite competitors, legendary champions, and one of Japan’s premier professional skating ensembles sharing the ice, Prince Ice World 2026–2027 THE REVUE ON ICE promises to be one of the country’s standout figure skating entertainment events this summer.
